Korlipara studied medicine in Mangalore before coming to England in 1965 when he was appointed senior house officer at Manor Park Hospital, Bristol. He held the same position in Huddersfield and Mansfield Hospital Nottinghamshire, before being appointed registrar in general medicine at Bolton General Hospital in 1969. In 1973 he left this position to settled in general practice in Horwich, Bolton. He was also clinical assistant in cardiology at Wythenshawe Hospital Manchester from 1977 to 1999 and trainer in general practice. Korlipara was a founder of the Bolton District Medical Services Limited, the first GP cooperative in the UK, and was president of the National Association of GP Cooperatives in 1997. He was a member of a number of other societies, including Bolton Medical Society, of which he was president in 1992.
