MD Edin 1858; MRCS LSA 1858.

Medd, probably the son of John Medd, gained his medical education at the University of Edinburgh. He was physician's assistant at MRI from 1858 to 1860, and during this period was ill with small-pox. Medd later settled in general practice in Manchester. Medd was honorary visiting surgeon to Ardwick and Ancoats Dispensary Manchester and later to Chorlton-on-Medlock Dispensary. He was a member of MMS and was on the committee of the Manchester and Salford Sanitary Association. He was also a member of the Manchester Anthropological Society and of the Royal Medical Society of Edinburgh.
