Ernest Alfred Knight

Knight was not a medical man, but presented in 1917 a fellowship to the Manchester Medical School to encourage the study of the factors concerned in the development of the symptoms of mental disturbance. Knight was the son of Noah Kolp, a merchant shipper from Germany who came to Manchester in the mid-nineteenth century. His son, Ernest, continued his business Kolp Coleman and Co, but changed his name to Knight before the first world war. He lived in Withington and later Knutsford before retiring to Devon.
