Administrative / Biographical History

Kingston gained his medical qualifications from the University of Liverpool in 1964. He was senior surgical registrar to West Midlands Health Authority before being appointed consultant general surgeon to Trafford in 1976. Kingston was head of the department of clinical studies at Trafford General Hospital. Kingston became FRCS (Edin) in 1970 and FRCS (Lond) in 1971. Kingston specialised in cancer surgery, and was a member of the British Association for Cancer Research, the British Association of Surgical Oncology (of which he was vice president) and the British Association of Surgeons. He wrote a number of articles on gastric cancer and was secretary of the North West Breast Cancer Study Group.
