MB ChB Manch 1923.

Greta Lowe was born in Manchester in 1898 and received her medical education at the University of Manchester, where she won the surgical clinical prize. She was house surgeon at St Mary's Hospital Manchester and was the first woman to be appointed to the surgical department of MRI. Lowe worked in Sierra Leone and Nigeria, she was medical officer to the Princess Christian Mission Hospital Freetown. When Lowe was invalided home, she took up public health work and held appointments in Essex and Eastbourne before being appointed to the Ministry of Pensions. Late in life she married Major John Jellicoe.
