Dated batsu by Kiyohara (Funabashi) Kunikata 清原 (船橋) 國賢, maki 下, fol. 43b to final unnumbered folio verso, ends as follows: 慶長己亥姑洗吉辰 正四位下行少納言兼侍從臣清原朝臣國賢敬識. Description: 2 kan, 1 satsu, rebound in 1 vol. western style. ff. 1 (mokki on mikaeshi), 47, 43, 1 (second folio of Kunikata''s batsu). 286 x 206 mm. Fukurotoji. Movable type. Printing frame 257 x 172 mm. Thick single-line borders. Fishtail design on hanshin, with solid black inking above and below hashiragaki. Kanbun text without printed kunten. (For handwritten kundoku and kutōten see under manuscript notes below.) 8 lines to page, 17 and 15 characters to line. Renewed front and back covers, late-Edo period, without title slip. MS gedai: 日本書紀 / 神代== / 一二== / 慶長元本. Title from naidai at head of each maki in the form: 日本書紀巻第一 (二) / 神代上 (下). Hashiragaki: Nihongi 日本紀 + folio no. In a modern western style half-leather binding, with inscription in red at bottom right which reads: 祕笈第一本, followed by red seal: 玩古祕書. Edition: Keichō chokuhan (Imperial edition of Keichō period) commissioned by Emperor Go-Yōzei. Printed with movable type from a typeface similar to that used for the two imperial editions of Keichō 2 (1597), Kangakubun 勸學文 and Kinshūdan 錦繡段. Contents: Plain text of Nihon shoki, Jindai no maki (maki 上 and 下), without commentary, but with batsu by Kiyohara Kunikata.

- 1 volume Condition: Good, apart from water stains on upper part of ff. 26-47 (maki 上) and minor worm damage, neatly repaired. Impression: Sharp and clear, from type showing few signs of wear. Seals of ownership: None. Manuscript notes: Manuscript kundoku in black ink throughout, added not long after date of publication. Some deleted with creamy white or yellow paint. Kutōten added in red. Manuscript note on mikaeshi of renewed cover: 後陽成院宸刻 / 梨木資之卿物語也 / 國賢卿手出ノ本也 / 自判綴ノ内ニアリ / 慶長己亥ハ慶長四年也 / 清家元本. Written c. mid-Edo period.
