Author/compiler: Hosokawa Fujitaka (Yūsai) 細川藤孝 (幽齋), also known as Genshi 玄旨, 1534-1610. Imprint: [Kyōto], Nakamura Gohē, Kanbun 8, 1668. Kanki on fol. 37b of maki 5 reads: 寛文八戊申年初冬吉日 中村五兵衛. The two oku signed by Hōin Genshi 法印玄旨 and Yasokusō Sonen 也足叟素然, dated Keichō 2, 1597 (noted under no. 289 above) are reprinted in the present edition but form no part of the kanki. Description: 5 kan, formerly in 5 satsu, now rebound in 1 vol. western style. (1) ff. 33; (2) ff. 32; (3) ff. 34; (4) ff. 31; (5) ff. 37. 27.1 x 19.2 cm. Fukurotoji. Blockprint. Printing frame 21.4-22.1 x 16.8 cm. Single-line borders. No fishtail design or vertical rules on hanshin. Hiragana-majiri text (some kanbun in appendices), with printed furigana. 12 lines to page, 24-28 characters to line. Mid-blue front cover, possibly original, of maki 1 only. No title slip, hence no gedai. Title from naidai. Full title, Ise monogatari ketsugishō 伊勢物語闕疑抄, does not appear in this edition. Hashiragaki: Ketsugi 闕疑 + maki no. + folio no. in a modern western style half-leather binding. Edition: This edition is believed to be a direct reprint by Nakamura Gohē from the blocks first cut for a seihan edition of Kan'ei period (1624-44). Nakamura's kanki of Kanbun 8, quoted under Imprint above, is printed from newly cut blocks, and the interrupted border lines above and below it indicate that it has been substituted for the (deleted) original kanki of Kan'ei period. Three blockprinted editions were published in that period: Kan'ei 11 (1634), Kan'ei 19 (1642) and an undated edition held by Jissen Joshidai. Blocks of the Kan'ei 19 edition were used for reprinting this re-issue of Kanbun 8 (1668). The degree of wear on the blocks suggests that many impressions had already been taken from them. Contents: A detailed commentary on Ise monogatari.
