Fukurotoji. Blockprint. Printing frame 21.8 x 16.2 cm. (average). Single-line borders. No fishtail design on hanshin. Hiragana-majiri text, with printed furigana, dakuten and kutōten. 12 lines to page, 24-26 characters to line. Renewed mid-blue covers, contemporary with date of printing but without title slips, hence no gedai. Title from naidai at head of preface, mokurokudai, and at head of text of each maki. Hashiragaki: Edo-banashi 江戸咄 + maki no. + folio no. Edition: The first edition under this title was published by Misuya Mataemon 簾屋又右衞門 at Edo in Genroku 7 元禄七年 (1694). The present copy, a later impression without kanki, is almost certainly printed from the blocks of that edition. An earlier edition with title Kokyō-gaeri no Edo-banashi 古鄕歸の江戸咄 was published in Jōkyō 4 (1687). The text was reprinted with minor alterations and corrections in the Genroku 7 (1694) edition, under the present title. Contents: An illustrated guide to Edo, containing literary allusions and quoting hokku and kyōka poems. Preface (unsigned) on ff. 1 / 3 and 4 / 6 of maki 1.

- 6 volumes Condition: Fair to good. Damage to corners and fore-edges repaired by urauchi re-backing throughout. Impression: Atozuri, from moderately worn blocks. Illustrations: A total of 12 double-page and 31 single-page sumizuri illustrations, distributed as follows: (maki 1) 2 double, 2 single; (2) 4 double, 4 single; (3) 2 double, 6 single; (4) 1 double, 6 single; (5) 1 double, 6 single; (6) 2 double, 7 single. Illustrator not named, but the style resembles that of Moronobu. Seals of ownership: Large oblong red seal, Henshū chishi biyō tenseki 編脩地志備用典籍 (seal of the Chishikyoku 地誌局) on first page of each maki. Also oblong black seal, Shōheizaka 昌平坂 (seal of Shōheizaka Gakumonjo), on last page of maki 1-5. Manuscript notes: A 4-line note on the work in red ink on fol. 7b of maki 1, referring to differences from the earlier edition, Kokyō-gaeri no Edo-banashi.
