Printing frame: 19 x 13.5 cm. Contents: Scenes from the Suikoden [Water Margins] featuring noted kabuki actors. According to kanki this was an introductory work (序之巻) and 3 main parts were to follow. One-page publisher's announcement bound in between folios 9 and 10.

Binding: Rebound in one western vol. Colour-printed front cover of vol.1 only retained. Seals of ownership: oblong red seal ''只誠臧'' on first page (seal of Sekine Shise 關根只誠). Note by William Anderson on flyleaf reads: Santo yakusha Suikoden.
