Description: 1 vol., bound in western style. pp. [1] (title page), [2] (address to the reader), [8] (first 4 folios of honmon), ff. 5-316 (honmon, numbered in folios at top right-hand corner of each folio. Remaining folios of book unnumbered, covering letters N-Z). 18.8 x 13.9 cm. Movable type. Printing frame 17 x 11.2 cm. Printed on a European printing press, probably imported into Manila by the Jesuits or Dominican friars. Text in romanised Japanese and Spanish throughout. No kanji or kana. 38 lines to page, plus running head indicating alphabetical order of contents: A ANTE ... , B ANTE ... , etc. + folio no. In an old binding of white vellum, probably not original. Hand-lettered title on spine: VOCABVLARIO / de Japon / RODRIGUEZ. Edition: The only edition known, of this Spanish translation. Contents: A Spanish adaptation of the Japanese-Portuguese dictionary published by the Jesuit Mission at Nagasaki in 1603-04 with the title VOCABVLARIO / DA LINGOA DE IAPAM ... (Nippo jisho 日葡辞書 or Nippo jiten 日葡事典). Original compilation by João Rodriguez, known as Tçuzzu.

- 1 volume Condition: Mostly good. Damaged title page re-backed. First folio (address to the reader, headed ' ... ADVERTENCIAS') damaged at upper left, eliminating part of heading. Impression: For the most part, type shows little sign of wear. Illustrations: Engraved ornamental shield (of the Dominican Order ?) with surrounding scrollwork and printer's ornaments on title page. Large triangular printer's ornaments on p. 2 of 'advertencias' and on last page of book. Seals of ownership: None.
