Description: 8 kan, formerly in 14 satsu, now rebound in 1 vol. western style. Maki 1-6 are each divided into 2 satsu, jō 上 and ge 下. (Satsu 1-maki 1 上) ff. 2 (序), 9 (目録 and 総括),1 (凡例), 34; (satsu 2-maki 1 下) ff. 62; (3-maki 2 上) ff. 58; (4-maki 2 下) ff. 49; (5-maki 3 上) ff. 59; (6-maki 3 下) ff. 31; (7-maki 4 上) ff. 33; (8-maki 4 下) ff. 49; (9-maki 5 上) ff. 59; (10-maki 5 下) ff. 48; (11-maki 6 上) ff. 53; (12-maki 6 下) ff. 51; (13-maki 7) ff. 52; (14-maki 8) ff. 25, 1 (batsu 跋), [1] (kango). 28.8 x 20.6 cm. Fukurotoji. Movable type, except for final kango blockprinted in gyōsho script. Printing frame 25.8 x 17.3 cm. (average). Double-line borders above and below text, with an additional border 1 cm. below upper edge of leaf. Single-line borders at inner edge of each leaf. Vertical rules between columns. 'Flower petal' fishtail design on hanshin. Kanbun text without kunten. 9 lines to page (double for commentary), 18 characters to line. Headnotes, also printed from movable type, in upper margins. Original dark brown front cover of satsu 1 only, with blank title slip added later, partly obscuring manuscript gedai: 十九史略 共拾四冊. Title from naidai at head of each maki. Hashiragaki: Shiryaku 史略 + maki no. + folio no. In a western style half-leather binding. biki and a few headnotes. Edition: Japanese reprint, from newly cut type, of a Korean edition published in Wanli 10 万暦十年 (1582) from a copy in the 弘文館;, with batsubun by the Korean 金睟 at end of maki 8. (A Korean edition with the same batsubun dated 1582 is also in the BL, 15296. e. 5.) The present edition contains a blockprinted kango by Shutō (quoted under Imprint above), indicating that the work was published in Kyōto, no doubt at the Tōfukuji 東福寺 where Shutō resided from 1615 to 1621. Contents: A digest of the 18 standard histories of China from earliest times to the Song period, originally compiled by Zeng Xianzhi 曾先之 (Chinese title: Shiba shilüe 十八史略), with an additional volume by Yu Jin 余進 covering Yuan history. The whole edited with commentary by Yu Jin.

- 1 volume Condition: Very good, with negligible worm damage. Impression: From comparatively unworn type. Seals of ownership: Oblong red seal, Hōzan Taizōin 法山退藏院 (seal of the Myōshinji, Taizōin 妙心寺退藏院) on first page of each former satsu. Manuscript notes: Shikigo in red ink, dated Hōreki 12 (1762), on fol. 25b of maki 8 reads: 寶曆十二年壬午歳閏四月句讀朱点 / 亦無叟記. This refers to the copious annotations in the form of kutōten, shubiki and a few headnotes, added throughout the text. A note, also in red, against the name of 金睟 at the end of his batsu states: 金睟 朝鮮國人.
