(Maki 1) ff. 16; (2) ff. 15; (3) ff. 16; (4) ff. 17; (5) ff. 17. 25.2 x 16.8 cm. Fukurotoji. Blockprint. Printing frame 20.2 x 14.5 cm. (average). Single-line borders. No fishtail design on hanshin. Hiragana-majiri text, with printed furigana and dakuten. 12 lines to page, variable no. of characters to line. Renewed front cover of grey, coarse paper, with renewed pink embossed title slip bearing manuscript gedai: 新刻増補 (角書) 女重寶記. Naidai at head of each maki: Shinpan zōho onna chōhōki 新板増補女重寶記. Hashiragaki: Onna chōhōki 女調法記 + maki no. + folio no. Edition: Undated edition, probably issued after the 3 dated editions of Genroku 5 (1692), Genroku 13 (1700) and Genroku 15 (1702), and before the edition of Hōei 8 (1711) which was re-titled Onna chōhōki taisei 女重寶記大成. - 1 volume Condition: Good, apart from soiled folios in maki 1. Impression: Variable. Mostly atozuri, but some folios have been replaced (hokoku 補刻) from re-cut blocks. Illustrations: 20 single-page sumizuri woodcuts, distributed as follows: (maki 1) 4; (2) 5; (3) 4; (4) 4; (5) 3 (the latter modelled on illustrations in maki 5 of Onna shoreishū 女諸禮集, q. v.). In addition, maki 5 contains small vignettes at head of each page, showing (a) symbols from Genji monogatari and associated incense perfumes, (b) patterns of folded paper, and (c) fan paintings with poems.
