    • 3 volumes Condition: Good, apart from minor worm damage (some repaired). Impression: Atozuri, from worn blocks. Illustrations: Numerous sumizuri woodcuts throughout the work, similar in subject matter to those in Chanoyu hyōrin 茶湯評林 (q. v.). Seals of ownership: None.

Scope and Content

Author/compiler: Endō Genkan 遠藤元閑, also known as Kōchōken 廣長軒. Imprint: N.p., n.d. [Genroku 7, 1694] . Batsu on last folio verso of maki 6 reads: 元禄七甲戌 / 六月十八日 / 廣長軒 元閑 / 敬跋之. Description: 6 kan, 3 satsu, in a box. (Satsu 1) ff. 36 (maki 1), 32 (maki 2); (satsu 2) ff. 31 (maki 3), 41 (maki 4); (satsu 3) ff. 30 (maki 5), 20 (maki 6), [2] (batsu). 22.5 x 16 cm. Fukurotoji. Blockprint. Printing frame 18.2 x 14.4 cm. (average). Single-line borders. No fishtail design on hanshin. Hiragana-majiri text with some furigana. 11 lines to page, 18-22 characters to line. Original light fawn covers, with original printed title slips. Gedai: 當流茶之湯流傳集. Title from gedai, mokurokudai and naidai at head of each maki. Hashiragaki: Ryūden 流傳 + maki no. + folio no. Edition: The only dated edition, published originally by Izumiya Mohē 和泉屋茂兵衞 in Kyōto. This copy, without hanmoto, is a later impression. Contents: A treatise on the cult of tea: its teahouses, gardens, flower arrangements, equipment, etc.
