LSA 1828, MRCS 1829.

Joseph Ashbury, or Astbury, Smith was a surgeon, artist and registrar of births and deaths, in Piccadilly Manchester in the 1830s and was a member of Manchester Medical Society. He left Manchester for London in the mid 1840s, but apparently returned to Manchester by 1860. He died 1862, aged 57. Smith was a native of Nottinghamshire, and had been to the East and West Indies as a ship surgeon.
