Tattershall studied medicine at Owens College and was house physician at Salford Royal Hospital. He was medical officer for Manchester Children's Hospital in Gartside Street and tuberculosis officer for Salford Corporation before settling in Conway. He died on 30 May 1943, aged 66. He appears to have been the father of Thomas Tattershall.
