Sneddon was born on 4 April 1895 and gained his medical education at Glasgow University. He held various junior appointments before turning to anaesthetics. Sneddon then held anaesthetic appointments at Stockport Infirmary, Stepping Hill Hospital, Hope Hospital, Leigh Infirmary and Booth Hall Hospital. In 1950 he was appointed consultant anaesthetist to Oldham Hospitals, a post he held until his retirement in 1964. Sneddon was a fellow of the Association of Anaesthetists and Manchester Medical Society, and was president of the Section of Anaesthetics of the BMA. Sneddon died on 13 April 1968.
