Administrative / Biographical History

Wright was a former army surgeon, who was appointed honorary physician at the Manchester Infirmary in 1780. He held the post until 1782, when he was dismissed by the Board following a dispute with the Infirmary's resident apothecary. He helped set up the Manchester Literary and Philosophical Society in 1781.
