Administrative / Biographical History

Ward graduated in medicine from the University of Manchester in 1909. He worked at the MRI before war service. In 1920 he was appointed honorary assistant physician at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and at St. Mary's Hospitals. He was honorary physician at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital from 1930 until his death and was consultant physician at Booth Hall Hospital, Manchester, from 1936-47. He lectured in paediatrics at the University of Manchester from 1934-50, and was one of the best-known paediatricians in the Manchester area. He was a member of Manchester Medical Society and its treasurer from 1925-30.
