Snowden was senior registrar in forensic psychiatry at Park Lane Hospital Liverpool and honorary lecturer and registrar in the department of psychiatry at Liverpool University before being appointed consultant in forensic psychiatry to the North West Health Authority and honorary clinical lecturer at the University of Manchester.
