Administrative / Biographical History

Anthony ('Tony') Ratliff studied medicine at Manchester between 1939 and 1945. He specialised in orthopaedic surgery, working at Biddulph Grange and the Robert Jones Hospital, Oswestry, followed by hospials in Edinburgh and Southend. In 1963, he moved to Bristol, where he spent the rest of his career. He was chairman of the Bristol Bone Tumour Registry (1982-1991). Ratliff held senior positions in the British Orthopaedic Association. He was Hunterian professor in 1959 and a Robert Jones lecturer in 1981 at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
