Thompson gained his medical education at the University of Manchester where he was demonstrator in anatomy and in physiology, He was house surgeon at MRI and assistant medical superintendent at Hammersmith Infirmary before settling in general practice in Paignton with his wife, Elsie Marsh Thompson (see above). He was also surgeon to the Paignton and District Hospital and consulting surgeon to Brixham Hospital. Thompson died on 24 August 1939, aged 57.
