Son of John Dee (1527-1608), mathematician and alchemist, Dee was educated at Oxford University. A 'Doctor of physick', he practised in Russia, before returning to Manchester in 1620/1. He was later a physician to Charles I and in later life, lived at Norwich. He married Isabella Prestwich of Hulme, Manchester.
