MRCS Eng 1861; LSA 1862; MB Lond 1863.

Gale studied at King's College Hospital, where he was also assistant house surgeon, and in Paris. Gale was house surgeon at Stockport Infirmary before being appointed physician to Manchester Hospital for Diseases of the Skin.
