Administrative / Biographical History

MA Oxon 1926, MB ChB Birm 1932; MRCP Lond 1935; FRCS Eng 1939.

Barber began his career lecturing at Birmingham University and as house surgeon at Hallam Hospital, West Bromwich. In 1937 Barber was appointed RSO at Oldham and District General Hospital, promoted to consultant surgeon in obstetrics and gynaecology in 1940. Barber was dismissed from this post in 1952 and in 1957 sued the Manchester Regional Hospital Board for wrongful dismissal and was awarded damages of £7437. Barber was a fellow of Manchester Medical Society . He died on 30 October 1962.
