Galloway was senior registrar in psychiatry at South the University of Manchester Hospitals before being appointed consultant psychiatrist in community psychiatry and psychogeriatrics at Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport. Galloway was later consultant psychiatrist at Macclesfield General Hospital. She was a member of Manchester Medical Society .
