Eskin studied at Sheffield and was assistant senior medical officer at Sheffield Regional Health Board. She then moved to Barnsley where she was specialist in community medicine for the Area Health Authority. In 1974 Eskin became director of the new Unit for Continuing Education in the Department of Community Medicine in Manchester Medical School, which later became the Centre for Professional Development. Eskin was also a lecturer at the University of Manchester and later honorary lecturer at Leeds University. By 1993 Eskin was no longer working for the Centre for Professional Development, but was working as a consultant in public medicine.
