Administrative / Biographical History

MRCS Eng and LSA 1858; LRCP Edin 1864.

Evans studied at the Royal Manchester School of Medicine and MRI. Before qualifying, Evans worked as a hospital dresser on HMS Cornwallis in the Baltic, for which he received a medal. While a student Evans was disciplined for breaking the rules, his offences including card-playing and gambling. However, Evans successfully qualified and moved to Leigh, Lancashire where he was a certifying factory surgeon and public vaccinator.
