Gray was a community physician in North Manchester who was actively involved in the Medical Practitioners Union. Through her efforts, the Trades Union Congress committed itself to support women's right to abortion and develop policies on women's health. Gray did a lot of work on women's health, and founded the first well-woman clinic to be run on feminist lines.
