Administrative / Biographical History

BSc Manch 1939, MB ChB 1942, MD 1947; FRCS Edin 1947.

After qualifying at Manchester, Goodman held junior positions at Manchester Northern Hospital, and Manchester Ear Hospital. In 1945 Goodman began work as a research assistant in the department of education of the deaf at the University of Manchester. Goodman later became clinical assistant to the ear nose and throat department of Edinburgh Royal Infirmary before being appointed consultant ENT surgeon to Manchester Northern Hospital and Tameside Area Health Authority. Goodman was a fellow of Manchester Medical Society and a member of the North of England Otolaryngology Society. His son, Michael Goodman (see MMC/2/GoodmanM), and daughter, Helen Margaret Lewis (see MMC/2/Lewis), both entered the medical profession.
