Papers of Marjorie James

This collection comprises the case notes, case book, register of cases and printed certificates, relating to the midwifery career of Marjorie James, who trained at the Salvation Army Mothers Hospital in Clapton, London, which was evacuated to Willersley Castle in Cromford, Derbyshire during the Second World War, before going on to practice at Dulwich Hospital, London (9 June 1940-7 September 1945).

Marjorie James (1913-2000) from Ashford, Kent was a midwife who trained at the Salvation Army Mothers Hospital in Clapton, London, which was evacuated to Willersley Castle, Derbyshire during the Second World War. She went on to become the matron at the Standish Hospital, Gloucestershire.
