Scope and Content

This collection comprises an ms pupil case book (16 January-4 August 1961) and ms case register (10 March-13 August 1961), compiled by V. A. C. Alder, recording the births that she attended whilst training to become a midwife in Sunderland and then Durham, including details of the pregnancy history of each patient, the drugs given and examinations made during labour as well as the postnatal care provided, together with a printed copy of the Central Midwives Board Handbook (1959).
