Scope and Content

Ms case book of Margaret Joan Howard, pupil midwife who trained under the jurisdiction of the County Borough of Ipswich (30 June 1960-28 February 1961), recording the case number, age, religion, husband's occupation, home conditions, pregnancy history and expected date of delivery of each patient, alongside the results of antenatal examinations that she performed, as well as detailed descriptions of the progress of labour and the puerperium, the condition of the mother, the condition of the child, including the sex and weight of the child, and the postnatal care provided. There is an index of cases that can be found at the back of the volume.

Margaret Joan Howard (fl. 1950-1970) was a pupil midwife who trained under the County Borough of Ipswich between 1960 to 1961.
