Midwifery certificates of Ellen Francis Vaughan

Two printed certificates awarded to Ellen Francis Vaughan, including one for passing the examination of the Central Midwives Board (28 October 1912), and another certifying that she had spent eight months working as a nurse for the Cottage Benefit Nursing Association (4 December 1917), including remarks on her duties and conduct during this time.

Ellen Francis Vaughan (fl. 1900-1920) was a midwife who passed the examinations of the Central Midwives Board in 1912. Before this she trained at the 'Cottage Nurse's Home and Institute' in Edmonton, London. She went on to practiced for a time at the General Lying-In Hospital in London.

There is no record of the date or source of acquisition before the collection was deposited at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in May 2011.
