Scope and Content

This collection comprises two ms case registers (1957-1979), covering the births that she attended throughout her midwifery career in Kenya and South America, together with personal documents and letters (1931-1983), primarily concerning her eventual retirement to the Wirral in England.

Administrative / Biographical History

Margaret Mount (also known as Rita Mount) attended school in Liverpool before training as a teacher midwife at High Coombe Midwife Teacher Training College in Kingston, Surrey. During her career she worked in Eldoret, a Kenyan colony, and at Suriname in South America before returning to the Wirral.
