Case registers of M. Harris

Scope and Content

This collection comprises two ms registers of cases of midwife, M. Harris (14 June 1951-14 August 1959), both recording the personal details and pregnancy history of each patient, the presentation of the infant on birth, the date and hour of child’s birth, sex of child and whether living or dead, full time or premature and number of weeks, name of doctor if called, date of last midwife’s visit, condition of mother then, condition of child then and remarks, accompanied by five further case registers, slightly different in style but also belonging to M. Harris, (13 March 1959-27 August 1975), listing the name and address, age of each patient, date of booking, expected date of delivery, name of doctor and if booked, called in an emergency or present at delivery, number of previous labours and miscarriages, whether antenatal care was given by clinic, midwife or doctor, date and hour or midwifes arrival, or patient’s admission, presentation, date and hour of infant’s birth, birth weight, sex of infant and alive or dead, delivered by, date or last visit or discharge, condition of mother then, condition of infant then and whether breast fed, complemented or supplemented, drugs given and their date and time of administration and any remarks.

M. Harris (fl. 1940-1980) was a midwife in the Kent.
