One ms pupil midwife case book of Muriel Illman (15 August 1946-14 May 1947), containing detailed descriptions of the births that she observed and the examinations she preformed, whilst training to become a midwife in London, accompanied by her register of cases (23 February 1946-15 May 1951), recording the name, age and address of each patient she attended, as well as the number of previous labours and miscarriages, date and hour or midwife’s arrival, presentation, date and hour of child’s birth, sex of child and whether born living or dead, full time or premature and number of weeks, name or doctor if called, complications (if any) during or after labour, date of midwife’s last visit, condition of mother then, condition of child then and any remarks.
