Daniel Lynch senior was a well known chemist and druggist on Market Street, Manchester. He commenced business in 1790, and later moved to a different premises on Market Street as Lynch and Bateman. Lynch was visiting apothecary to Manchester Infirmary from 1812 until his death in 1836. He was an active freemason and was deputy grand master of the Freemasons of the Manchester District. Lynch died on 23 January 1836 aged 69. After his death, his son James R. Lynch (see below) took over as visiting apothecary to the Infirmary. Daniel Lynch junior also practised medicine (see below).
