Lendrum studied medicine at the University of Aberdeen and in Berlin. He held junior appointments at York County Hospital and Huddersfield Infirmary before settling in Oldham, where he was assistant surgeon and later honorary surgeon at Oldham Infirmary. Lendrum died on 27 June 1929 aged sixty. His son, George MacCormac Lendrum was also a doctor (see above).
