Ollerenshaw graduated in medicine from the University of Manchester in 1905, and proceeded to the MS in 1908 and the FRCS in 1909. He served in the RAMC during the 1914-1918 war, including a period at the 2nd Western General Hospital. Ollerenshaw was an orthopaedic surgeon, and worked at RMCH and SRH. He was also a consultant surgeon at Booth Hall Hospital, Manchester. He was also a clinical lecturer ins surgery at the University of Manchester. Ollerenshaw was a former president of the Manchester Medical Society and of the Orthopaedic Section of the BMA.
