MSc Manch 1941

Lewinsky was born in Berlin in 1907. She left Germany in the early years of Hitler's rule, going first to Paris then to Manchester, where in 1934 she married Dr Werner Lewinsky (d 1952). The marriage was dissolved in 1939. After graduating in psychology at the University of Manchester, Lewinsky became a member of the British Psycho-analytic Society. She was a well respected therapist and practised in Manchester from 1941 to 1951. While in Manchester, Lewinsky did much work for child guidance clinics in the North West. She left Manchester in 1951 to open a practice in New York. She published many papers and was at the height of her career when she died in January 1956.
