Administrative / Biographical History

Simeon Owen studied at Manchester Royal School of Medicine and received the MRCS, LSA in 1869; he later took an MD from the Royal University Ireland. He was in practice in Whalley Range, Manchester, and was a former MOH for Moss Side. Owen was a former president of Manchester Clinical Society and president of the Medico-Ethical Association, and was also a member of Manchester Medical Society. He was also chairman of the West Manchester Division of the BMA. Owen was involved with the MSSA, delivering lectures for that body. He was also for many years a physician at Manchester Northern Hospital.
