Administrative / Biographical History

MRCS 1827.

Lowe was surgeon to the Manchester and Salford Lying-in Hospital for eleven years, he was appointed man-midwife for the out districts in 1818. He was on the honorary staff of the hospital from 1819 to 1829. Lowe later was a general practitioner in Chorlton-upon-Medlock, Manchester. He could possibly be the same as the earlier James Lowe (see above). James Lowe was a witness to the wedding of a daughter of William Lowe in 1837 (see MMC/2/LoweW).
