- For Joseph Alleine (1634-68) see Corr 822, 881, 894, 1059, 1063, 1181, CR and ODNB. Joseph Alleine’s An Alarme to Unconverted Sinners first appeared in 1672 and to it Baxter contributed a preface. Baxter also wrote the first chapter of Theodosia Alleine et al The Life and Death of Mr Joseph Alleine. Late teacher of the church of Taunton in Somerset-shire; assistant to Mr Newton (1672) which was published anonymously.
