  • Contrary to Thomas' ascription of the title to Samuel Rolls, William Jane is cited by Wing as the author of The present separation self-condemned, and proved to be schism: as it is exemplified in a sermon preached upon that subject, by Mr. W. Jenkyn: and is further attested by divers others of his own persuasion. All produced in answer to a letter from a friend (1678). For William Jane (bap 1645- d 1707) see ODNB.
  • For Samuel Rolls (or Rolle) (c1628-79/80) see CR, ODNB, Corr 737 and Rel iii, 41.
