Baxter's defence of the validity of his ordination and offering his reasons for refusing to seek re-ordination. Baxter states that he 'must professe that having 8 yeares agoe written a Treatise purposefully to prove the validity of the late Ordination by ye Synods & Presbyteries in England (though I never practised any myselfe) & having openly called for some confutation of it, I never could procure any to this day: And therefore am the more excusable if I erre.
