‘Reverend & Learned Brother unfeignedly beloved in the Lord uppon the perusall of your second Volume, as I found the effects of those excellent guiftes, for which I thanked God on your behalfe, & such a Vindication of the Truth about the Saints perseverance’

Argent notes 'The reference is to G Kendall’s Sancti Sanciti, or the common doctrine of the perseverance of the saints (1654), an answer to Baxter’s Saint’s Everlasting Rest (AGM 2). The reason for the suppression of this intended publication is given in Rel. i. 110. Cf Richard Baxter’s Apology, by G F Nuttall, in JEH, iv, 76.
