      • Archive Services is situated in the basement of the Tower Building. To find us go down the stairs behind the lifts in the Tower foyer, turn left at the foot of the stairs and follow the signs. If in doubt there is a reception desk at the entrance to the Tower where you can ask for directions

      • It is sometimes necessary to close at short notice and this, combined with limited reader space, means that it is always advisable to make an appointment

      • The Archive has provision for wheelchair users and aims to serve the needs of all wishing to make use of our service. Please telephone in advance if you have any special requirements and we'll do our best to help.
    • Archival and Other Holdings
      • The Archive holds extensive collections of documents, volumes, plans, photographs and film, dating from the fifteenth century to the present day.
      • Major collections include the University and associated records, those of the jute and linen industry and transport, records of the Glasites and the Brechin Diocese of the Episcopal Church and the Michael Peto photographic collection.
      • We also hold an extensive collection of rare books and newspapers relating to Scottish history and British labour, social and shipping history.
      • The collections relate to organisations and individuals in Dundee and the surrounding area, offering evidence for local, national and international research.
      • Topics include research into education, religion and social and business history, the built and natural environment, travel and leisure, medicine and health, local and family history
    • History
      • The Archive manages and maintains the University of Dundee's manuscripts and records collections. It collects and preserves records relating to the University and its predecessors, including administrative, individual and research material. It is also the repository for the administrative and medical records created by Tayside Health Board and its predecessors as well as of major collections created by individuals, business and organisations associated with the University and local area.
      • The main aims of the department are to:
      • secure the long-term preservation of the University collections and selected institutional records;
      • promote the use of the collections to support the core institutional aims of research, teaching and learning and use the collections to support the promotion of the University
