Administrative / Biographical History

William Christie came from the Stonehaven area and was educated at Mackie Academy, Stonehaven. He attended Aberdeen University and, after graduating in 1925, taught for a time in the West of Scotland. In 1954 he moved to Dundee and was a school inspector there for many years. He retired in 1964, at the age of 61, and gained a Ph.D. at St. Andrews University, 'The History of the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Brechin 1688-1875', in 1968. Dr Christie was a past president of the Abertay Historical Society and a member of the vestry of St. Paul's Cathedral. He died in Dundee in September, 1979.
