Minute book 1955-1965, letters to Gordon Sneddon, secretary, from or relating to Pee Wee Russell 1959-1967, file of correspondence with Gordon Sneddon 1952-1962, brochures, programmes, newspaper supplements mainly 1960s (one from 1979).

Administrative / Biographical History

The club existed from 1955 and was formally discontinued in 1965, though it had effectively stopped most of its activites in 1962. The American jazz musician Pee Wee Russell (1906-1969) accepted an invitation to become honorary President of the Dundee Jazz Club in 1959.

Custodial History

The material was held by the secretary of the Club, Gordon Sneddon, and was handed over to James Thomson (a member of the club) by his widow. A former employee of the Archives suggested that Mr Thomson deposit the material.
