Administrative / Biographical History

James Milton Robb was the son of Walter Robb. He was a lawyer who worked for the DeWitt Perkins and Ponce law firm in the Philippines. He was married to Monica Cowles Robb (d. 1945) and had a daughter, Dollie. During the Second World War he was a USA prisoner-of-war held by the Japanese in the Philippines from December 1941 until his death at sea while being transported to Japan on 15 December 1944. During his imprisonment he kept a journal of daily life at the camps which was encased in a metal box and buried for safekeeping. Robb's father, Walter, traced the manuscript, entitled "Carry On!". Walter Robb intended the manuscript to be published but it never was, due to 'official obstruction' by U.S. authorities.
